The FDA has released information about the multistate Salmonella Adelaide outbreak that is linked to precut melons. Fresh cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, and fresh-cut fruit medley products that contain any of these melons that were produced at the Caito Foods facility in Indianapolis, Indiana are being recalled as a result of this outbreak. Those products were distributed from the Caito Foods facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio.. Lawsuit: Bakery Supplier to Whole Foods, Kroger, Sam’s Club, Sysco and More Faked E. coli, Listeria Tests
A bakery supplier to Whole Foods, Kroger, Sam's Club, Sysco, Rich Products, and US Foodservice has been falsifying tests for Listeria and E. coli documents for more than a year, according to a lawsuit filed by whisteblowing employees. Orange Bakery Inc. of Irvine, California had previously employed a third-party lab, Silliker Inc., to test for bacteria. Before severing ties with the lab some time before January 1, 2015, Orange obtained blank testing forms which it then forged to show negative results for Listeria and E. coli, the lawsuit alleges. Orange sells raw dough for bakery products to clients who cover every part of the country. Kroger Pulls Dole, Simple Truth and Fresh Selections Salads
Kroger is pulling Dole, Simple Truth and Fresh Selections salads from store shelves after salads made at a Dole facility in Springfield, Ohio were linked to a Listeria outbreak. Twelve people have been sickened in this outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). National Choice Bakery of Minnesota is recalling bagels sold under several brand names because they may contain undeclared peanuts and tree nuts. People with an allergy to those ingredients could have a serious allergic reaction if they eat these products. No illnesses have been reported to date. The brand names in this recall include Market Pantry, L'Oven Fresh, Lender's, Kroger, Dan's Pantry, and Village Hearth. Varieties recalled include plain, whole wheat, cinnamon/raisin, blueberry, everything, and mini bagels. Happy Apple Expands Recall to Include Kroger Caramel Apples
Happy Apple Company is expanding their recall of caramel apples to include Kroger brand caramel apples. These apples are associated with the Listeria monocytogenes outbreak that has sickened at least 32 people in 11 states and killed six. Three children have developed Listeria meningitis as a result of their illnesses. The Kroger apples have a best use by date between September 15 and November 18, 2014 and were sold in single packs and three packs. They were distributed to retailers in Arizona, Alaska, Kansas, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Sam’s Club, Walmart and Kroger Recall Spinach For E. coli
Sam's Club, Walmart and some Kroger stores are recalling Taylor Farms organic baby spinach products sold under a a variety of names due to possible contamination with E.coli. The brand names under recall include Central Market Organics, Full Circle Organic, Marketside Organic, Simple Truth Organic and Taylor Farms Organic. Recalled Simple Truth Organic baby spinach was sold at stores owned by the Kroger company. They include King Soopers, City Market, Fry's, Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Food4Less, FoodsCo, QFC and Smith's in Texas and Louisiana. At this time, illnesses have not been reported in association with the recalled products. But consumers who have purchased any of them should not eat them as E.coli can cause serious illness.
