Gwillimdale Farms Onions Recalled in Canada For Salmonella

The recall of ProSource Produce onions for possible Salmonella contamination in Canada has been updated with a farm name. Gwillimdale Farms onions imported from Mexico are recalled. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency discovered this information during their investigation. Onions imported from Mexico are linked to a Salmonella outbreak in the United States that has sickened at least 652 people. However, there have been no reported illnesses in Canada that are associated with the consumption of these onions. The recall was triggered by a recall in the U.S. by ProSource Produce LLC (ProSource Inc.) of Hailey, Idaho. ProSource Produce onions are being recalled in Canada for possible Salmonella contamination, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The onions are from Chihuahua, Mexico. Onions from Chihuahua, Mexico, imported by ProSource Produce LLC (ProSource Inc.), are linked to a huge Salmonella outbreak in the United States. There are no reported illnesses in Canada that are associated with the consumption of these onions. The onions were distributed in Ontario and Quebec and may have been distributed nationally at the retail level. Whole raw red, yellow, and white onions are called. Green Giant Fresh Onions Are Recalled For Possible Salmonella

Green Giant Fresh onions are being recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. The onions were sourced from ProSource Produce LLC (ProSource Inc.). Those onions that were imported from Chihuahua, Mexico are associated with a Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 652 people in 37 states. There is no indication at this time that Green Giant Fresh onions are associated with any illness. The recalling company is Potandon Produce LLC of Idaho Falls, Idaho. The Green Giant Fresh onions were delivered directly to three UNFI retail distribution centers located in Fargo, North Dakota; Bismarck, North Dakota; and Hopkins, Minnesota between July 9, 2021 and August 6, 2021. HelloFresh is recalling products containing onions that were provided to them by ProSource Inc. for possible Salmonella contamination. ProSource Inc. imported onions from Chihuahua, Mexico that are associated with a huge multistate Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 652 people, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There is no indication that HelloFresh onions are associated with illness at this time. HelloFresh is a meal delivery service that ships prepared meals to consumers around the country. EveryPlate onions and products containing those onions are being recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. The company was informed by its supplier, ProSource Produce or ProSource Inc., that the onions may be contaminated. Red, white, and yellow onions imported by ProSource from Chihuahua, Mexico are associated with a large multistate Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 652 people in 37 states, according to the CDC. There is no indication that EveryPlate onions are associated with illness at this time. Minnesota Salmonella Oranienburg Outbreak Grows to 20 Sick

The Minnesota Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak has grown to include 20 patients, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Overall, at least 419 people in 35 states are sick, and 66 people are hospitalized. Government officials have not yet definitely named the food source that has caused all of these illnesses, but there have been a few clues. In the last update, the CDC said that the outbreak strain of Salmonella Oranienburg was found in a restaurant takeout condiment cup that contained cilantro, onions, and limes, and may have included peppers. While limes are probably not the source, since the pH of that fruit is too low to support Salmonella growth, the other three foods may be the culprit. Is Salmonella Oranienburg Outbreak Connected to Onions or Limes?

The rapidly expanding Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak has not yet been definitively solved by the FDA or CDC, but there are clues in the latest investigation information. On Friday, September 24, 2021, the CDC said that they found the outbreak strain in a takeout condiment cup that contained cilantro, onion, and lime. Is the Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak connected to onions or lime? Information posted at the National Center for Biotechnology Information stated that cilantro has tested positive for Salmonella Oranienburg, but we don't know if the strain has been definitely established as the outbreak strain. Onion Salmonella Newport Outbreak Has Now Sickened 1012 in 47 States

The Thomson International onion Salmonella Newport outbreak has now sickened at least 1,012 people in 47 states, according to a September 1, 2020 update by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That is an increase of 143 more ill persons in the last two weeks. One hundred thirty-six people are hospitalized. Canadian Salmonella Onion Outbreak Sickens 457 in 7 Provinces

The Canadian Salmonella onion outbreak has now sickened at least 457 people in seven provinces. This is and increase of 78 more cases since the last update on August 21, 2020. There is a Salmonella outbreak linked to onions in the U.S. that has sickened at least 869 people in 47 states. Illnesses in both countries are related through a similar genetic fingerprint. The outbreak in both countries is linked to red onions imported into the country from the United States. Several recalls of red, yellow, white, and sweet onions from Thomson International of Bakersfield, California have been issued in relation to this outbreak. HelloFresh Onions Urgently Recalled For Possible Salmonella

The FDA says that HelloFresh onions are urgently recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. One of the company's ingredient suppliers informed them about this issue. Consumers are asked to discard all onions that were received or purchased from May 8, 2020 through July 31, 2020. The company recommends that consumers dispose of all HelloFresh onions that were received or purchased during that specified time period. HelloFresh also says that people should disinfect and sanitize surface and containers that may have come into contact with these onions.
