The Fratelli Beretta Charcuterie Salmonella outbreak has ended with at least 104 sick in 33 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That's an increase of 17 more patients and three more states since the last update: Delaware, New Hampshire, and West Virginia. The Fratelli Beretta charcuterie Salmonella outbreak has now sickened at least 87 people in 30 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eighteen people have been hospitalized. That's an increase of 40 new patients, eight new states, and eight new hospitalizations since the last update on January 18, 2024. The new states are: California, Florida, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Tennessee,. Fratelli Beretta Salmonella Charcuterie Meats Recalled For Under Processing

Fratelli Beretta Charcuterie Meats are being recalled for possible under processing. The meats contain Coppa that may be under processed, which could have resulted in Salmonella or other pathogen contamination. The recalling firm is Fratelli Beretta USA of Mount Olive, New Jersey. There is a Salmonella outbreak that may be linked to Fratelli Beretta Charcuterie samplers that has sickened at least 47 people in 22 states and has hospitalized 10. The charcuterie Salmonella outbreak has grown to include 47 patients in 22 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Ten people have been hospitalized because they are so ill. That is an increase of eight more states, 23 new patients, and five new hospitalizations since the original notice of the outbreak was issued on January 5, 2024. Public Health Alert Issued For More Ready to Eat Charcuterie

A public health alert has been issued for more ready to eat charcuterie that was sold at Costco and Sam's Club, according to the USDA. The brands include Fratelli Beretta and Busseto. A recall was not issued because the products are no longer for sale at those stores. In the previous recall, only Sam's Club was mentioned as a store that sold these products. And the Fratelli Beretta brand of antipasto is mentioned for the first time in this notice. The Fratelli Beretta Antipasto Gran Beretta was sold at Costco in a 24 ounce twin-pack (two 12 ounce trays). It's the source of an outbreak linked to tainted charcuterie, but what Salmonella I 4:I:-? A strain by that name hasn't been associated with any previous outbreaks, recalls, or illnesses, so it had us intrigued until the Minnesota Department of Health cleared up the mystery. "This isn’t a new or different serotype but a change in laboratory methods. Since we now do serotyping using whole genome sequencing, 4 [5] 12:I:- is now reported as 4:I:-," an epidemiologist in the Foodborne Unit explained. Salmonella 4 [5] 12:I:- is a "monophasic variant of Salmonella Typhimurium, and it is an emerging threat to both human and animal health," according to a recent study. A Busseto Charcuterie Salmonella outbreak has sickened at least 24 people in 14 states as of January 3, 2024, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Five people have been hospitalized because they are so sick. The case count by state is: Arizona (1), Connecticut (1), Illinois (1), Michigan (1), Minnesota (1), Nebraska (1), New Jersey (1), New York (1), Ohio (11), Texas (1), Utah (1), Vermont (1), Washington (1), and Wisconsin (1). The patient age range is from 16 to 91 years. Illness onset dates range from November 20, 2023 to December 18, 2023. The number of patients in this outbreak is likely much higher than the case count suggests, and the outbreak may not be limited to these states. Multistate Salmonella Outbreak May Be Linked to Charcuterie Boards

A multistate Salmonella outbreak may be linked to recalled Busseto Charcuterie Boards that were sold at Sam's Club stores, according to a USDA recall notice. There is one patient in Minnesota who was allegedly sickened after eating meats included in a Busseto Charcuterie Sampler. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture tested an unopened sampler taken from the patient's home and it was positive for the pathogen. Fratelli Berettta USA Inc. of Mount Olive, New Jersey recalled about 11,097 pounds of that ready-to-eat charcuterie board on January 2, 2024. The board has lot code L075330300 and best if used by date April 27, 2024. The board contains prosciutto, sweet sopressata, and dry coppa cured meats.
