The Salmonella Carrau outbreak linked to precut melons produced by Caito Foods has sickened at least 93 people. The Salmonella contaminated precut melons were sold at Kroger, Target, Trader Joes, Amazon/Whole Foods, Walmart stores, and independent grocery stores in several states under several different brand names. Caito Foods recalled precut melons in many different combinations and iterations on April 12, 2019, the day the outbreak was announced by the FDA and CDC. Kroger Shrimp Recalled For Potential Health Hazard
Kroger is recalling cooked shrimp that was actually sold raw or undercooked because they could be a potential health hazard. That means the shrimp could be contaminated with spoilage bacteria or with bacteria that could make you sick. The Kroger shrimp was sold in stores in parts of Michigan, central and northwest Ohio, and northwestern Virginia. This recall also includes Fry's, King Soopers, and Smith's grocery stores that are part of the Kroger chain. Specific stores where the product may have been sold were not listed. The FDA has released information about the multistate Salmonella Adelaide outbreak that is linked to precut melons. Fresh cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, and fresh-cut fruit medley products that contain any of these melons that were produced at the Caito Foods facility in Indianapolis, Indiana are being recalled as a result of this outbreak. Those products were distributed from the Caito Foods facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio.. Lawsuit: Bakery Supplier to Whole Foods, Kroger, Sam’s Club, Sysco and More Faked E. coli, Listeria Tests
A bakery supplier to Whole Foods, Kroger, Sam's Club, Sysco, Rich Products, and US Foodservice has been falsifying tests for Listeria and E. coli documents for more than a year, according to a lawsuit filed by whisteblowing employees. Orange Bakery Inc. of Irvine, California had previously employed a third-party lab, Silliker Inc., to test for bacteria. Before severing ties with the lab some time before January 1, 2015, Orange obtained blank testing forms which it then forged to show negative results for Listeria and E. coli, the lawsuit alleges. Orange sells raw dough for bakery products to clients who cover every part of the country. Kroger is pulling Dole, Simple Truth and Fresh Selections salads from store shelves after salads made at a Dole facility in Springfield, Ohio were linked to a Listeria outbreak. Twelve people have been sickened in this outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). National Choice Bakery of Minnesota is recalling bagels sold under several brand names because they may contain undeclared peanuts and tree nuts. People with an allergy to those ingredients could have a serious allergic reaction if they eat these products. No illnesses have been reported to date. The brand names in this recall include Market Pantry, L'Oven Fresh, Lender's, Kroger, Dan's Pantry, and Village Hearth. Varieties recalled include plain, whole wheat, cinnamon/raisin, blueberry, everything, and mini bagels. Sam's Club, Walmart and some Kroger stores are recalling Taylor Farms organic baby spinach products sold under a a variety of names due to possible contamination with E.coli. The brand names under recall include Central Market Organics, Full Circle Organic, Marketside Organic, Simple Truth Organic and Taylor Farms Organic. Recalled Simple Truth Organic baby spinach was sold at stores owned by the Kroger company. They include King Soopers, City Market, Fry's, Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Food4Less, FoodsCo, QFC and Smith's in Texas and Louisiana.
