A Montana raw water Campylobacter outbreak in 2022 has been linked to a bird's nest in a concrete cache from Kennedy Creek, according to ARS Technica. Nineteen people were sickened in that outbreak, and one person was hospitalized. The water was untreated, taken from a concrete box that siphoned off water from the creek located near Paradise, Montana. Officials believe that the box was build in the early 1900s to stop erosion from a railroad track bed. Officials found an empty bird's nest inside the box, which was the likely source of the pathogen. Campylobacter was found in the water. Montana Campylobacter Outbreak Linked to Kennedy Creek Water
A Montana Campylobacter outbreak is linked to the Kennedy Creek watering point, according to Sanders County Environmental Health. About 20 people have been confirmed with this illness in an outbreak that occurred in mid May 2022. Eighteen of those patients consumed water from the Kennedy Creek watering point over a period of about two to three weeks during late April and early May 2022. Thirteen of those patients have seen a healthcare provider; all tested positive for Campylobacter. One linked case was also reported in Flathead County. A water sample was taken from the creek's discharge point, and it tested positive for Campylobacter. The FDA is weighing in on the multistate red onion Salmonella Newport outbreak that has sickened at least 396 people in 34 states. The FDA is collaborating with the Public Health Agency of Canada, where more than a hundred people are sick with the same strain of Salmonella Newport. On July 30, 2020, Canadian health officials announced they had determined that red onions from the U.S. were a potential source of the outbreak. Sysco red onions that were imported from the United States were recalled in that country. As of April 20, 2018, there are officially 53 people sick in the E. coli O157:H7 HUS outbreak that is linked to romaine lettuce from the Yuma, Arizona growing region, according to the CDC. But how many people are really sick in this multistate outbreak? According to news reports and state health departments, the outbreak total could be 66. On Friday, April 20, 2018, the Alaska Department of Health & Social Services issued a press release stating that eight confirmed cases of E. coli O157:H7 infections have been identified at the Anvil Mountain Correctional Center. Now 36 People Sick in the Richey, MT E. coli Outbreak
The Dawson County Heath Department and the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services have announced that there are now 36 people sick in the E. coli outbreak associated with the Richey Centennial Event & All Class Reunion. That event took place on July 15th through the 17th, 2016. Public health officials say it is too early to definitively state the cause of the outbreak. Local food vendors have been cooperating in the investigation. The Health Department is encouraging anyone who may have leftover foods from those events to not consume them.
