Another Infant Sickened in Nara Infant Formula Botulism Outbreak

Another infant has been sickened in the Nara infant formula botulism outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). All four babies have been hospitalized, and all of Nara Organic's powdered infant formulas have been recalled. The case count by state is: California (2), Pennsylvania (1), and Washington (1). Illness onset dates range from April through May 2026. The patient age range is 68 days (2 months) to 153 days (5 months). All four infants were hospitalized and treated with BabyBIG®, the FDA-approved treatment for this infection that was developed by the California Department of Health. New Cyclospora Outbreak on FDA’s CORE Outbreak Table

There is a new cyclospora outbreak on the FDA's CORE Outbreak Table. There are nine outbreaks on the table; six of those outbreak have been solved. Three of the outbreaks have ended, but the investigations into all of them are ongoing. For the new cyclospora outbreak, there are two people who are sick. The source has not been identified. DeLauro Issues Statement on Nara Organic Formula Outbreak

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) issued a statement about the Nara Organic Formula outbreak and recall for botulism. That outbreak has sickened at least three infants in the states of California, Pennsylvania, and Washington state. All three infants were hospitalized and treated with BabyBIG®, the FDA-approved treatment for this infection developed by the California Department of Health. The infants ranged in age from 86 days to 153 days when they got sick. This product was sold at Target stores nationwide, and was also sold on the Target web site and Nara’s website between July 2025 and June 2026. The FDA is weighing in on the Nara Organics Powdered Infant Formula botulism outbreak. At least three infants in three states have been sickened. The case count by state is: California (1), Pennsylvania (1), and Washington (1). Illness onset dates range from April through May 2026. All three infants were hospitalized and treated with BabyBIG®, the FDA-approved treatment for this infection that was developed by the California Department of Health. The California Department of Public Health Infant Botulism Treatment and Prevention Program reported three toxin type A infections among infants who consumed the formula.
