Wawona Peaches Salmonella Outbreak Number Three of 2020

The Wawona Peaches Salmonella outbreak was the number three multistate outbreak of 2020, with at least 101 sick in 17 states. There were many primary and secondary recalls of bagged and bulk peaches and peach products related to this outbreak.   The patient case count by state was: California (1), Connecticut (1), Illinois (1), Iowa (11), Kansas (1), Kentucky (1), Maryland (1), Michigan (18), Minnesota (27), Missouri (2), New Jersey (8), New York (14), Ohio (1), Pennsylvania (4), Vermont (1), Virginia (3), and Wisconsin (6). FDA Investigation into the Peach Salmonella Outbreak Continues As It Ends

The FDA investigation into the peach Salmonella outbreak is continuing even as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has declared the outbreak over. At least 101 people in 17 states were sickened in this outbreak which was first identified in August 2020. Twenty-eight patients were hospitalized. The patient case count by state is: California (1), Connecticut (1), Illinois (1), Iowa (11), Kansas (1), Kentucky (1), Maryland (1), Michigan (18), Minnesota (27), Missouri (2), New Jersey (8), New York (14), Ohio (1), Pennsylvania (4), Vermont (1) Virginia (3), and Wisconsin (6). Canadian Salmonella Peach Outbreak Declared Over With 57 Sick

Public Health Canada has declared the Canadian Salmonella peach outbreak over after sickening 57 people in two provinces. There is a corresponding outbreak in the United States that was just declared over by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The notice from Public Health Canada states that "Given that Salmonella illness reporting linked to this outbreak has significantly decreased over the last four weeks, the outbreak appears to be over and the investigation has been closed." People may still have these peaches either frozen in their freezers or in other products. In Canada, a consumer advisory was issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency for Prima Wawona peaches that were imported from the United States and sold from June 1, 2020 to August 22, 2020. Peach Salmonella Enteritidis Outbreak Ends With 101 Sick in 17 States

The peach Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak has ended in the United States after 101 people in 17 states have been sickened. Twenty-eight people were hospitalized because they were so sick. That is an increase of 23 more cases since the last update on August 27, 2020. Three Salmonella Outbreaks in Peaches, Onions, Wood Ear Mushrooms

There are currently three Salmonella outbreaks ongoing in the United States right now. Altogether they have sickened at least 1,131 people and hospitalized 163. The outbreaks are linked to Wawona peaches, Thomson International Onions, and imported Wismettac Asian Foods wood ear mushrooms, also known as dried black fungus. While there are usually three to four multistate Salmonella outbreaks that occur every year in the United States, it's unusual to have three active outbreaks at the same time. The Salmonella Newport outbreak linked to Thomson International red onions has not been updated by the government in a month. Status of Peach and Onion Salmonella Outbreaks in United States?

You may have forgotten about this by now, but what is the status of the peach and onion Salmonella outbreaks in the United States? Both of those items; Wawona peaches and Thomson International red onions, are linked to multistate outbreaks, and neither investigation has been updated by the CDC or FDA in weeks. The Salmonella Newport outbreak that is linked to red onions produced by Thomson International has sickened at least 1,012 people in 47 states. One hundred thirty six people have been hospitalized because they are so sick. That outbreak investigation has not been updated since August 18, 2020. Canada Peach Salmonella Outbreak Sickens 48; U.S. Numbers Unchanged

The Canada peach Salmonella outbreak has now sickened 48 people in that country, while the case count in the United States remains the same at 78 sick. Since the last update on August 13, 2020, there are 15 more confirmed illnesses. Officials say that peaches imported from the United States, more specifically Wawona peaches, are the probable source of this outbreak. There is no evidence to suggest that any peaches grown in Canada are associated with illnesses. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a consumer advisory for peaches recalled by Prima Wawona that were sold from June 1, 2020 to August 22, 2020 in Canada. Wawona Salmonella Peaches Recalled In More Countries

Wawona Salmonella Peaches are being recalled in more countries around the globe, after being linked to an outbreak in the U.S. and in Canada. As of August 28, 2020, the governments of Canada, Singapore, and New Zealand have issued recalls. And information received by the FDA indicates that the recalled peaches were shipped to the countries of Australia, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and the United Arab Emirates. Salmonella Enteritidis Peach Outbreak Grows to 78 Cases in 12 States

The Salmonella enteritidis peach outbreak has now grown to include 78 people in 12 states, according to an update by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Twenty-three people have been hospitalized because they are so ill. The outbreak has been linked to recalled Prima Wawona and Wawona Packing peaches and some products made with those peaches. Crazy Fresh Peach Salsa Recalled For Possible Salmonella

Russ Davis Wholesale is recalling Crazy Fresh Peach Salsa, Quick & Easy Peach Salsa, and Clear Label Peach Salsa for possible Salmonella contamination. These products were made with Wawona Packing peaches which were recalled for Salmonella. There is a multistate Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak linked to Wawona peaches, but Russ Davis Wholesale has not received any reports of illness related to their products. The products were sold in retail stores in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wyoming.
