Citterio Salame Sticks Salmonella Outbreak Sickens 21 in 8 States
The Citterio Salame Sticks Salmonella outbreak has sickened at least 21 people in eight states, according to an update by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That is an increase of one new patient since the last update. More importantly, six people are now hospitalized, an increase of three new hospitalizations. That is a hospitalization rate of 33%, much higher than the typical rate for this kind of outbreak. The Salame Sticks were sold at Trader Joe's grocery stores and we now know that they were also sold at Wegmans stores. They may have been sold at other grocery stores around the country. A Wegmans Plainville ground turkey Salmonella outbreak has sickened at least 28 people in 12 states. This outbreak was announced in a USDA recall notice. The USDA has issued a public health alert about 211,406 pounds of raw ground turkey in relation to this outbreak. This outbreak may be one that has been on the USDA outbreak investigation table for several weeks. The ground turkey was produced by Plainville Brands. A recall was not requested because the government believes that these products are no longer available for sale. FSIS is concerned that these products may be frozen in consumers' home freezers. The FDA has updated the multistate Salmonella peach outbreak with more information about where recalled peaches were sold. As of August 22, 2020, there are 68 people in 9 states who are sick with Salmonella Enteritidis infections that the CDC says is linked to peaches. Consumers, restaurants, and retailers should not eat, sell, or serve recalled peaches packed by or supplied by Prima Wawona or products made with them. If you purchased any of the following recalled products, which include bagged peaches, loose or bulk peaches, and products made with those peaches, do not eat them, even if some have been eaten without anyone getting sick.
