More Daily Harvest French Lentil Crumbles Illnesses But No Answers

More Daily Harvest French Lentil + Leek crumbles illnesses have been reported to the govnermmnt, but there are still no answers about what has caused the illnesses, according to the FDA. There have been 277 Consumer Adverse Event Reports (CAERS) and Consumer Complaints submitted to the FDA as of July 14, 2022. Ninety-six people have been hospitalized. Anecdotal reports of illness have neared 500. The FDA has started an investigation, including inspection and sample collection, to try to determine what is causing these illnesses. The FDA is investigating French Lentil and Leek Crumbles illnesses. That product is produced by Daily Harvest. Consumer complaints of gastrointestinal illness and abnormal liver function have been received and "may be attributable" to eating Daily Harvest French Lentil and Leek Crumbles frozen product. We do not yet know the case count by state, but we do know that ill persons live in these 26 states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. There are two Minnesotans sickened in the Dole bagged salad Listeria monocytogenes outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The second patient was just added in the update issued by that agency on February 1, 2022. Patients sickened in this outbreak live all over the country. The case count by state is: Idaho (1), Iowa (2), Maryland (1), Michigan (1), Minnesota (2), Nevada (1), North Carolina (1), Ohio (2), Oregon (1), Pennsylvania (1), Texas (2), Utah (1), and Wisconsin (1). The case count is current as of February 1, 2022. The patient case count by state is: Idaho (1), Iowa (2), Maryland (1), Michigan (1), Minnesota (2), Nevada (1), North Carolina (1), Ohio (2), Oregon (1), Pennsylvania (1), Texas (2), Utah (1), and Wisconsin (1). FDA Info on Deadly Dole Listeria Outbreak, With 16 Sickened

The FDA has released information about the deadly Dole Listeria outbreak that has sickened at least 16 people in 13 states and killed two as of December 22, 2021. The FDA says that the outbreak is "potentially linked" to those products. The CDC investigated this outbreak in 2019 and 2020 but was not able to gather enough information to name a brand or products. The investigation was reopened in November 2021 when four new illnesses were reported. In October 2021, the Georgia Department of Agriculture collected a product sample of prepackaged salad mix from a grocery store. That sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. FDA Weighs In On Josie’s Organics Baby Spinach E. coli Outbreak

The FDA has weighed in on the Josie's Organics baby spinach E. coli outbreak that has sickened at least 14 people in nine states as of November 15, 2021. Four people have been hospitalized, and three have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), which is a type of kidney failure. The outbreak was first discovered in November 2021 when the Minnesota Department of Agriculture found E. coli in an opened package of Josie's Organics baby spinach that was taken from a patient's home. The sample had a "best if used by" date of October 23, 2021. Whole genome sequencing has, according to the CDC, revealed that that isolate is closely related to isolates taken from ill people. The Josie's Organics baby spinach E. coli outbreak has sickened at last 14 people in nine states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Three people have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a type of kidney failure. Four people have been hospitalized. A Josie's Organics baby spinach E. coli O157:H7 outbreak has sickened at least 10 people in seven states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Of eight people who gave information to public health officials, two have been hospitalized, for a hospitalization rate of 25%. The patient case count by state is: Indiana (3), Iowa (1), Michigan (1), Minnesota (2), Missouri (1), Ohio (1), and South Dakota (1). Illness onset dates range from October 15, 2021 to October 27, 2021. The patient age range is from 2 to 71 years. Whole genome sequencing showed that bacteria from patient isolates are closely related, suggesting that people in this outbreak got sick from eating the same food.
