A new E. coli O157:H7 outbreak on the FDA's CORE Outbreak Table, and case count increases in other outbreak investigations are the changes in the latest update. There are seven active outbreak investigations on the table. Six of them are unsolved. The new E. coli O157:H7 outbreak in a not yet identified foods has sickened at least 25 people. The FDA has initiated traceback, but has not initiated a recall, inspected any facilities, or collected samples. Another cyclospora outbreak and a new Salmonella outbreak are listed on the FDA's CORE Outbreak Investigation Table, bringing the number of outbreaks under investigation to eight. Six of those eight outbreaks are unsolved. The newest outbreak is a cyclospora outbreak that has sickened at least two people. FDA Publishes Table of Compounds in Diamond Shruumz Products

The FDA has published a table of compounds found in Diamond Shruumz products. Tests of the company's cones and gummies have also been collected and are being analyzed. The case count remains at 113 sick in 28 states and 42 hospitalized, with two potential deaths. There is no information about case count by state, or the patient age range. The severe symptoms that patients have been experiencing include seizures, central nervous system depression (loss of consciousness, confusion, sleepiness), agitation, abnormal heart rates, hyper/hypotension, nausea, and vomiting. And it's troubling that some of these items may still be available for sale at smoke and vape shops, and at retailers that sell hemp-derived products. The Diamond Shruumz case count zooms to 113 sick in 28 states and 42 hospitalized, according to the FDA. That is an increase of 35 patients since the last update was issued one day ago. Two people have died, but officials aren't sure if those deaths are associated with the consumption of these products. The numbers reflect a change to the case ascertainment and reporting process, which was implemented on August 2, 2024. No patient case count was provided in this update. Two new Cyclospora outbreaks have been added to the FDA's CORE Outbreak Investigation Table. There are a total of six outbreaks on the table. Four of them have not been solved. A new outbreak of Cyclospora cayetanensis illnesses linked to a not yet identified product has been added to the table. There are 26 people sick. FDA has initiated traceback, but no samples have been collected and no inspection ordered. Another new outbreak of Cyclospora cayetanensis illnesses linked to a not yet identified product has been added to the table. Sixteen people are sick in that outbreak. More Illnesses Reported in Unsolved Outbreak by FDA

More illnesses reported in the unsolved Salmonella Imuru outbreak by FDA on that agency'c CORE Outbreak Table. Altogether there are five outbreaks on the table; three of them are not solved or linked to a specific product. The Salmonella Imuru outbreak case count has increased from 29 to 31 people sick. The FDA has conducted traceback, but there is no recall, no inspection of a facility, and no samples have been collected and analyzed. We do not know the patient age range, where the patients live, and whether or not anyone has been hospitalized.
