The SunFed cucumber Salmonella outbreak has grown to include 100 patients in 23 states, according to the CDC. And 25 people are hospitalized. That's an increase of 32 new cases, four new states, and seven new hospitalizations since the last update was issued on December 5, 2024. The new states are Arizona, Michigan, New Mexico, and Nevada. F&S Fresh Foods is recalling their Mediterranean Party Tray with Cucumbers from SunFed Produce. Those cucumbers are linked to a Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 68 people in 19 states. The Grecian Delight Tzatziki that was supplied to F&S Fresh Foods and was included in the kit was made with those cucumbers. No illnesses have been reported to F&S Fresh Foods to date in connection with the consumption of this product. The recalled product is F&S Fresh Foods Mediterranean Party tray that is packaged in a 22 ounce clamshell container with a clear lid. FDA CORE Outbreak Table Updated With New E. coli Outbreak
The FDA has updated its CORE Outbreak Investigation Table to include a new E. coli O157:H7 outbreak. There are currently four active outbreak investigations on the Table; one is unsolved. Four investigation have ended; all of those were unsolved. The FDA and CDC are investigating illnesses in a multistate outbreak of E. coli O157 infections linked to an iceberg and romaine lettuce blend served at catering events, restaurants, and a school. A total of 69 people infected with the same strain of E. coli O157 have been reported from 10 states. FDA’s traceback investigation has identified an iceberg and romaine lettuce blend from a common supplier as the source of this outbreak; however, this product is past shelf life and no longer on the market. The cucumbers were imported from Mexico. The recalling firm is SunFed Produce of Rio Rico, Arizona. The Cyclospora Outbreaks were solved on the new FDA CORE Outbreak Investigations Table, but no corporations were named as being responsible for those products. In addition, a new E. coli O157:H7 outbreak was added to the Table. There are eight outbreaks on the Table; two have been solved. The new E. coli O157:H7 outbreak has sickened at least 18 people.
