GHGA Updates Recall of Cut Cantaloupe For Possible Salmonella

GHGA is updating their recall of cut cantaloupe products to include product photos and to remove Florida from the Sprouts stores and to remove Alabama. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of these specific items as of November 29, 2023. The recalling firm is GHGA of Conley, Georgia. The whole fruits that were used to make these products are linked to a deadly Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 117 people in 34 states. Market Cuts Cantaloupe Recalled For Possible Salmonella

Market Cuts cantaloupe is being recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. This recall notice was published on the FDA's Enforcement Reports page, so there is no mention whether or not any illnesses have been reported to date. The recalling firm is Market Cuts of Chicago, Illinois. You can see the long list of recalled products, along with the package size, UPC numbers, and best before dates at the linked site. The best before dates ended on November 9, 2023, but some people may have frozen these products and they could still be consumed. Salmonella Oranienburg Cantaloupe, Cut Fruit and Canada Redux

In its November 30 update on a deadly cantaloupe Salmonella outbreak, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed the fast-growing outbreak has caused 180 illnesses, 78 hospitalizations, and three deaths in the U.S. and Canada. And that some of the patients are residents of long-term care facilities. The update also disclosed that a second Salmonella strain, Salmonella Oranienburg, has been linked to some of these illnesses. And that's notable because Oranienburg isn't a top-10 strain in the U.S. It's been linked to a handful of multistate outbreaks over the last two decades. Crown Jewels Recalls Malichita and Z Farms Cantaloupe

Crown Jewels is recalling Malichita and Z Farms cantaloupe brands for possible Salmonella contamination. This recall is in relation to the deadly Salmonella Sundsvall outbreak that has sickened at least 99 people in 32 states. The recalling firm is Jewel Manufacturing and Agribusiness LLC doing business as Crown Jewels Product of Fresno, California. All sizes of 1960 boxes of Malichita and Z Farms cantaloupe are included in this recall. They were sold between October 31, 2023 and November 9, 2023. ALDI Cantaloupe and Pineapple Recalled For Possible Salmonella

ALDI cantaloupe, cantaloupe chunks, and pineapple are being recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. No illnesses have been linked to these products, according to the recall notice. These products were produced by Sofia Produce doing business as TruFresh, Anthony Marano Company, and Market Cuts LLC. There is a Salmonella outbreak linked to recalled Malichita cantaloupes that has sickened at least 43 people in 15 states. That fruit was also sold by TruFresh. The recalled products include whole cantaloupe, with UPC numbers 4061464587694, 717524410023, 850677002001, and 717524410085. TFP Nutrition Recalls All Dry Pet Food For Possible Salmonella

TFP Nutrition is expanding their October 24, 2023 recall of their dry pet food products for possible Salmonella contamination to include all dry dog, dry cat, and catfish formulas. These products were manufactured in their Nacogdoches, Texas facility. While the previous recall notice said that no animal or human illnesses have been reported to date, that statement was not included in this recall. The recalling firm is TFP Nutrition of Nacogdoches, Texas. Both humans and pets have been sickened by pet food in the past; in fact, there is a Salmonella outbreak that has sickened infants that is linked to another brand of dry dog food right now. A new study looks at how pathogens contaminate ready to eat produce, causing foodborne illness outbreaks. The study was published in the February 2024 issue of Food Microbiology. Ready to eat fruits and vegetables can be contaminated with pathogens and have caused many outbreaks in the past few years. E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria monocytogenes have caused most of these illnesses. Multiple sources of contamination include soil, irrigation water, birds and insects, grey/blackwater, contamination in the seed itself, animal fecal matter, and post-harvest operations. Extreme weather events, including flooding and dust storms, can contaminate these foods. Future Seafoods Raw Oysters Recalled For Salmonella, E. coli

Future Seafoods raw oysters are being voluntarily recalled for possible Salmonella and E. coli contamination. The FDA issued a public health warning about these oysters on October 23, 2023, and the company issued the recall a few days later. The recalling firm is Future Seafoods, Inc.   The oysters were harvested from harvest area PE9B on Prince Edward Island, Canada, on October 10, 2023 and were distributed to customers from October 10 through October 16, 2023. All Future Seafoods raw oysters from that harvest area are included in this recall. Retailers and restaurants should not sell or serve these oysters, and if consumers bought them, they should not eat them.
