New Salmonella Irumu Outbreak on FDA CORE Table

A new Salmonella Irumu outbreak has been added to the FDA's CORE Outbreak Investigation Table, so there are now five active outbreaks on that Table. Three of the outbreaks are unsolved. Salmonella Irumu is an uncommon serotype of this pathogen. It has not been linked to any outbreaks for at least 19 years. There are 26 people sick in that outbreak. The FDA has initiated traceback, but there has been no recall, no inspections, and no samples have been collected or analyzed. More Illnesses on FDA CORE Outbreak Investigation Table

There are more illnesses on FDA CORE Outbreak Investigation Table, with an unsolved outbreak increasing by 27 cases. There are five outbreaks on the table; two are unsolved. One outbreak, the Salmonella outbreak linked to Infinite Herbs organic fresh basil, has ended with 36 people sick in 14 states. Four people were hospitalized, and two recalls were issued. The unsolved Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak case count increased to 80 from 53 since the last update. The FDA has initiated traceback but has not initiated an inspection, sampling or testing of samples. And the unsolved Listeria monocytogenes outbreak has sickened two people. FDA Weighs in on Cucumber Salmonella Outbreak

The FDA is weighing in on the cucumber Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 449 people in 31 states and the District of Columbia. The CDC and FDA combined what were originally two separate outbreaks into one as they shared similarities, including the demographics of patients, when and where the illnesses occurred, and the foods they ate before they got sick. There are at least 449 sick in the cucumber Salmonella outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). and there are 125 people who have been hospitalized. A new cucumber supplier has been named: Bedner Growers of Florida.
