FDA CORE Outbreak Investigation Table Updated

The FDA CORE Outbreak Investigation Table has been updated to include two outbreaks that have been solved. There are eight investigations on the Table; only three are unsolved. The first outbreak on the Table is also the newest: The Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak linked to Emek Pistachio Cream. The case count by state is: Minnesota (3), New Jersey (1).  One person has been hospitalized. At least three of the four  patients ate this product at the same restaurant in Minnesota. The second outbreak is the Salmonella Montevideo outbreak linked to recalled Bedner cucumbers that has sickened at least 45 people in 18 states. FDA on Emek Pistachio Cream MN and NJ Salmonella Outbreak

The FDA weighs in on the Emek Pistachio Cream MN and NJ Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least four people. The product is manufactured by Emek Dogal Saglik Urunleri Iklim Gida Insaat San Tic Ltd Sti in Turkey and imported into the United States. It has a use by date of October 19, 2026 (TETT: 19/10/26 (DD/MM/YY) and has production code PNO: 241019. It is shelf-stable and was sold online for distributors, restaurants, and food service locations. It may be packaged in a 5 kilogram white tub. Emek Pistachio Cream Salmonella Outbreak Sickens 4 in MN, NJ

An Emek Pistachio Cream Salmonella outbreak has sickened at least four people in the states of Minnesota and New Jersey according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). No recall has been issued. The patient case count by state is: Minnesota (3) and New Jersey (1). Illness onset dates range from March 10, 2025 to May 19, 2025. One person has been hospitalized. The patient age range is from 16 to 54 years. All four patients were interviewed by public health officials. All said they ate pistachio cream before getting sick. Three of those four people ate the cream at the same restaurant, which was not named.
