Keeler Family Farms MVP Onions Recalled For Salmonella Contamination

Keeler Family Farms MVP onions are being voluntarily recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. These onions are associated with a multistate Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak that has sickened at least 652 people in 37 states.   No onions marketed through Keeler Family Farms have tested positive for Salmonella bacteria. FDA traceback investigation identified these onions as potentially part of the outbreak according to patient interviews and restaurant purchases. The FDA and CDC investigations into more possible sources of Salmonella in this outbreak are ongoing. The onions were harvested in Chihuahua, Mexico and were shipped to the United States during July and August 2021. ProSource Inc. Recalls Onions From Mexico For Salmonella Contamination

ProSource Inc. is voluntarily recalling onions from Mexico for Salmonella contamination. The onions are linked to a multistate Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak that has sickened at least 652 people in 37 states. The onions were shipped from Mexico between July 1, 2021 and August 31, 2021. The brand names that the onions may have been sold under include Big Bull, Peak Fresh Produce, Sierra Madre, Markon First Crop., Markon Essentials, Rio Blue, ProSource, Rio Valley, and Sysco Imperial. The recalled products are whole raw fresh red, yellow, and white onions. FDA Has Withdrawn Temporary Hand Sanitizer Manufacturing Guidelines

Back in March 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the FDA issued temporary guidelines for companies to manufacture hand sanitizers because high consumer demand led to shortages. Manufacturers who were not drug manufacturers at the time could use those policies to make these products. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has withdrawn temporary hand sanitizer manufacturer guidelines since shortages of those products is over. The production of hand sanitizers did increase, but a slew of recalls had to be issued, because some of the newly manufactured products contained substances not intended to be used in hand sanitizers, such as methanol, wood alcohol, and benzene. CDC: Avoid Fratelli Beretta Uncured Antipasto Trays With Best By 2/11/22

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated the Salmonella outbreak linked to Italian-style meats. Their new recommendation is that consumers should avoid all Fratelli Beretta Uncured Antipasto Trays with the best by dates of 2/11/22 (February 11, 2022) and before, rather than just the one product that has been recalled. The one currently recalled product is Fratelli Beretta Uncured Antipasto prosciutto, soppressata, Milano salami, and coppa in 24 ounce vacuum sealed trays. Each tray contains two 12-ounce packages with "best by" dates on or before February 11, 2022. The UPC number that is stamped on the label is 073541305316. Valley Milk Simply Bottled Raw Goat Milk Recalled For Campylobacter

Valley Milk Simply Bottled raw goat milk is being recalled in California because it may be contaminated with Campylobacter bacteria, according to a press release from the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The milk is also the subject of a statewide quarantine order by California State Veterinarian Dr. Annette Jones. The dairy is located in Stanislaus County. The quarantine order was filed after officials confirmed detection of the bacteria Campylobacter jejuni in the farm's packaged raw whole goat milk. No illnesses have been reported to the company or to government officials in connection with the consumption of this raw milk product. CDC Weighs in on Reopened Salmonella Weltevreden Shrimp Outbreak

The CDC is weighing in on the reopened Salmonella Weltevreden shrimp outbreak that has sickened at least nine people in four states. Three people are hospitalized because they are so sick. That is an increase of three new illnesses, one new hospitalization, and two new states since the last update in July 2021. This investigation was closed, but was reopened when more ill persons were discovered. The case counts by state are: Arizona (2), Michigan (2), Nevada (4), and Rhode Island (1). Illness onset dates range from February 26. 2021 to July 17, 2021. The patient age range is from 30 to 80 years. Of six people who gave information to investigators, three have been hospitalized. USDA Releases Serenade Raw Breaded Stuffed Chicken Distribution List

The USDA has released the Serenade raw breaded stuffed chicken retail distribution list for that company's recalled products. These products are linked to a multistate Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 28 people in eight states. The USDA statement at the top of the list reads: "FSIS has reason to believe that the following retail location(s) received frozen, raw, breaded and pre-browned stuffed chicken products that have been recalled by Serenade Foods, a Milford, Indiana establishment. This list may not include all retail locations that have received the recalled product or may include retail locations that did not actually receive the recalled product. Genji Pacific Shrimp Sushi Rolls Recalled For Possible Salmonella

Genji Pacific Shrimp Sushi Rolls are being recalled because they contain cocktail shrimp produced by Avanti Frozen Foods. This secondary recall is being issued because frozen fully cooked shrimp imported by Avanti Foods from India is linked to a multistate Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least nine people in four states. No illnesses have been reported in association with these recalled products, however. The recalling company is Genji Pacific LLC of Allentown, Pennsylvania. The recall is for 1,490 packages of sushi containing cocktail shrimp. The products are packaged in clear lid containers, with labels that indicate the product name, ingredients, and best by date. Avanti Foods Shrimp Recall Expands in Salmonella Weltevreden Outbreak

The Avanti Foods shrimp recall is expanding in the wake of the Salmonella Weltevreden outbreak linked to that product, three days after the FDA requested the expansion. The outbreak linked to the shrimp was declared over on July 21, 2021, but then three more illnesses were identified this month and the investigation was reopened. And at least one of the new patients ate shrimp that was not covered by the original recall. The recall now includes frozen cooked shrimp products imported from India by Avanti Frozen Foods from November 2020 to May 2021. Shrimp Salmonella Outbreak Continues With Three More Sickened

The FDA says that the shrimp Salmonella outbreak continues because three more patients have been identified. Now nine people are sick. In addition, two more states, Michigan and Rhode Island, have been added. The outbreak was declared over on July 21, 2021. Avanti Frozen Foods issued a recall for their frozen cooked shrimp on June 25, 2021. The case count by state is now Nevada (4), Michigan (2), Rhode Island (1), and Arizona (2).  The last illness onset date is July 20, 2021. In the previous investigation notice, which was on July 21, 2021, the last illness onset date was April 25, 2021.
