The FDA is warning consumers not to buy or use Neptune's Fix, a product that is marketed for pain relief, to improve brain function, and treat anxiety, depression, and opioid use disorder. The government has received reports of serious complications after the use of this product, including seizures and loss of consciousness. The product contains tianeptine, which is a substance that is not approved by the FDA for any medical use. Tianeptine is considered an alternate to fentanyl and oxycodone. While some companies in this country are planning to seek FDA approval for this drug, that has not happened. A deadly Minnesota Salmonella outbreak linked to cantaloupe has sickened at least 13 people in that state, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Two people who lived in Minnesota have sadly died. The nationwide outbreak has sickened at least 99 people in 32 states, with 45 people hospitalized. The brand of cantaloupe linked to these illnesses is Malichita, processed by Sofia Produce located in Nogales, Arizona, doing business as Trufresh. The cantaloupes were imported from Mexico. There are now 52 kids sick with Wanabana Applesauce lead poisoning, according to the FDA. That is an increase of 18 more cases in the last five days. And the government says that recalled WanaBana Apple Cinnamon Puree is still on the shelves at several Dollar Tree stores in "multiple states." This product should not be for sale and consumers should not buy this product. As of November 22, 2023, there are 52 reports of adverse events submitted to the FDA that are potentially linked to this recalled product. Minnesota Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Malichita Cantaloupes
A Minnesota Salmonella outbreak linked to recalled Malichita cantaloupes has sickened at least five people in that state, according to the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). This outbreak is linked to a larger multistate outbreak, in which at least 43 people in 15 states are sick. One person in the Twin Cities metro area has been hospitalized because they are so sick. Illness onset dates range from October 25, 2023 to November 4, 2023. The patient age range was not given in the Minnesota outbreak announcement, but nationwide the age range is from one to 100.
