Deadly Grimmway Farms Carrots E. coli O121:H9 Outbreak Ends

The deadly Grimmway Farms carrots E. coli O121:H9 outbreak has ended with 48 people sick in 19 states, according to the CDC. Twenty people were hospitalized. There were quite a few recalls issued in relation to this outbreak, including the original recall, an expansion, and secondary recalls including Earth Farms Vegetable Medley, Fabalish Kickin’ Carrot Falafel Bites, Bunny Luv Carrots, and Whole Foods Organic Carrot Sticks. FDA CORE Outbreak Table Updated With New E. coli Outbreak

The FDA has updated its CORE Outbreak Investigation Table to include a new E. coli O157:H7 outbreak. There are currently four active outbreak investigations on the Table; one is unsolved. Four investigation have ended; all of those were unsolved. The FDA and CDC are investigating illnesses in a multistate outbreak of E. coli O157 infections linked to an iceberg and romaine lettuce blend served at catering events, restaurants, and a school. A total of 69 people infected with the same strain of E. coli O157 have been reported from 10 states. FDA’s traceback investigation has identified an iceberg and romaine lettuce blend from a common supplier as the source of this outbreak; however, this product is past shelf life and no longer on the market. 4Earth Farms vegetable medleys and carrots are being voluntarily recalled for possible E. coli O121:H19 contamination. These products contain Grimmway Farms carrots that are linked to a deadly E. coli O121:H19 outbreak. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with these specific recalled products. Grimmway Farms Carrots Recall For E. coli Expanded

The Grimmway Farms carrots recall for possible E. coli contamination is being expanded to include four new bag sizes. Grimmway Farms carrots are linked to a deadly E. coli O121:H19 outbreak that has sickened at least 39 people and hospitalized 15. The newly recalled carrots are Bunny Luv brand in 50 pound bags, Cal-Organic carrots in 15 pound and 50 pound bags, and Good & Gather brand in 1 pound bags. These organic whole carrots were available for purchase at retail stores from August 14, 2024 through October 23, 2024. No best if used by dates are on these carrots. Whole Foods organic carrot sticks, along with organic carrots and celery, are being recalled for possible E. coli O121:H19 contamination. These products are recalled because they are part of the Grimmway Farms organic carrots recall. The carrots are linked to a deadly multistate outbreak. There are no illnesses linked to these particular products.  The recalling firm is F&S Fresh Foods of Sacramento, California. These products were sold at Whole Foods stores in these states: Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, and Nevada. The Minnesota Grimmway Farms carrots E. coli O121:H19 outbreak has sickened five people, according to the Minnesota Department of Health, This multistate outbreak has sickened at least 39 people in 18 states. One person who lived in California has died, and 15 people have been hospitalized. The five patients in Minnesota are between 15 and 44 years of age. The illness onset date range is from September 21 to October 6, 2024. One person has been hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported. The carrots, which include organic whole and baby carrots, have been recalled by Grimmway Farms.
