Deadly Minnesota Cantaloupe Outbreak Sickens 15 With 2 Deaths

The deadly Minnesota cantaloupe outbreak has sickened at least 15 people in that state with eight hospitalizations, and two people are dead. These illnesses and deaths are linked to recalled Malichita cantaloupes produced by Sofia Produce, doing business as Trufresh, that were imported from Mexico. The larger multistate Salmonella Sundsvall and Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak has sickened at least 117 people in 34 states. The people who sadly died in Minnesota lived in the Twin Cities area and in central Minnesota. Illness onset dates range from October 25 to November 11, 2023. Bix Produce Recalls Cut Cantaloupe Products For Salmonella

Bix Produce is recalling cut cantaloupe products for possible Salmonella contamination in relation to the deadly Salmonella outbreak that has sickened 117 people nationwide and has hospitalized 61. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of these specific products. The recalling firm is Bix Produce of Little Canada, Minnesota. These recalled products were made with Malichita cantaloupes that have been recalled by Trufresh. The recalled products are Created Fresh! They contain recalled Trufresh cantaloupe that are linked to a deadly Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 117 people in the U.S. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of these specific products. Kwik Trip Cantaloupe Recalled For Possibly Deadly Salmonella

Kwik Trip cantaloupe products are being recalled in the wake of a deadly Salmonella outbreak that killed two people in Minnesota and sickened 99 nationwide. The recalling firm is Kwik Trip, Inc. The recalled products are three varieties of fresh cut fruit cup and tray items. They were made with cantaloupe from Trufresh that have been recalled and have been linked to the outbreak. But there have been no reported illnesses associated with these specific Kwik Trip products. The recalled items have sell-by dates of November 4, 2023 through December 3, 2023. A deadly Minnesota Salmonella outbreak linked to cantaloupe has sickened at least 13 people in that state, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Two people who lived in Minnesota have sadly died. The nationwide outbreak has sickened at least 99 people in 32 states, with 45 people hospitalized. The brand of cantaloupe linked to these illnesses is Malichita, processed by Sofia Produce located in Nogales, Arizona, doing business as Trufresh. The cantaloupes were imported from Mexico. Trufresh has expanded their cantaloupe recall for possible Salmonella contamination to include the Rudy brand, and all Malichita brands. There is a deadly Salmonella outbreak linked to these cantaloupes that has sickened at least 99 people in 32 states. The recalling firm is Sofia Produce of Nogales, Arizona, doing business as Trufresh. The cantaloupe are packed in cardboard containers labeled with the Malichita and Rudy brand names. Cantaloupe Salmonella Cases Soar to 99 With Two Deaths

The cantaloupe Salmonella outbreak has grown rapidly, with 56 more cases in 32 states, 28 new hospitalizations, and two deaths, according to the CDC. Two more recalls have been issued. That's an increase of 56 new cases, 28 new hospitalizations, and 17 new states since the last update was issued seven days ago. The deaths are also new.
