The FDA has initiated traceback, but has not collected or tested samples, or inspected any facilities. Great Falls Schools Salmonella Outbreak Sickens 10 Students
A Great Falls schools Salmonella outbreak has sickened at least 10 students in Montana, according to news reports. Eight of those cases are confirmed as of November 13, 2024. The Cascade City-County Health Department is investigating this outbreak. The patients all live in Cascade County; most (nine) are students in the Great Falls Public School system. One of the patients attends another secondary school. There is no word on whether or not any patients have been hospitalized. The Milo's Poultry Farms eggs Salmonella outbreak has ended with 93 people sick in 12 states and 34 hospitalized, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That's an addition of three states and 30 more illnesses since the last update was issued on September 6, 2024. Many eggs, including duck eggs, were recalled in response to this outbreak. A Radiance of the Seas Salmonella outbreak has sickened at least 180 people, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). And three crew members were sick. The voyage dates for that cruise were September 20 to September 27, 2024. The voyage number is 20118. There were 2,172 passengers on the ship. Outbreaks on cruise ships can be common, but they are usually caused by norovirus, a highly contagious virus that causes the same symptoms as Salmonella. The close quarters of ships makes transmission of bacteria and viruses easy. During the outbreak, Royal Caribbean International and the crew on the ship made announcements to notify people of the outbreak, encourage case reporting, and stress good hygiene, especially handwashing. The Madre Oaxacan Salmonella outbreak has sickened 45 people, according to an email sent by the LA County Department of Public Health. All of those infections are confirmed. Public health officials are investigating and responding to this outbreak. Officials became aware of this outbreak on September 17, 2024, when reports of illness were received. The restaurant is located at 27007 Mc Bean Parkway in Valencia, which is a neighborhood in Santa Clarita, California. The health department did not state if it is investigating food or employees as the possible source of this pathogen.
