Two Salami Prosciutto Salmonella Outbreaks Sicken 36 in 17 States

Two salami prosciutto Salmonella outbreaks have sickened at least 36 people in 17 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These new outbreaks were just announced a few hours ago. These Italian-style meats are eaten unheated and are often served in antipasto or charcuterie assortments. Twelve people have been hospitalized. No recall has been issued. The overall case count by state is: Arizona (5), California (7), Colorado (1), Illinois (4), Indiana (1), Maryland (1), Michigan (2), Minnesota (2), Nevada (1), New York (1), Ohio (3), Oregon (1), Texas (2), Utah (1), Virginia (1), Washington (2), and Wisconsin (1). The frozen stuffed breaded chicken Salmonella outbreak has now sickened at least 28 people in eight states. That's an increase of 11 new patients and two new states since the last update on June 2, 2021. And since that last update, a recall of Serenade Foods frozen stuffed breaded raw chicken products has been issued. A cake mix E. coli outbreak has been announced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Sixteen people in twelve states are sick. Seven people have been hospitalized. The patient case count by state is: Illinois (2), Indiana (1), Iowa (2), Massachusetts (1), Michigan (1), Nebraska (2), Ohio (2), Oregon (1), South Carolina (1), Utah (1), Virginia (1), and Washington (1). The patient age range is from 2 t0 73 years, with a median age of 13. The age range for outbreaks linked to baking ingredients usually skews young; 75% of children in this outbreak are under the age of 18. The hospitalization rate is 44%. FDA Weighs In On BrightFarms Salmonella Outbreak

The FDA is weighing in on the BrightFarms Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak that has sickened at least 11 people in three states. Two people have been hospitalized. The outbreak has grown from the eight patients mentioned in the first investigation outbreak notice on July 14, 2021. The eleven patients live in Michigan (1), Illinois (6) and Wisconsin (4). Illness onset dates range from June 10, 2021 to July 1, 2021. The FDA has visited BrightFarms farm where the salad greens were grown in a greenhouse, and has collected samples. The public will be informed about those sample results when available. The BrightFarms Salads Salmonella outbreak has now sickened at least 11 people in three states, according to a new update by the CDC. A new state, Michigan, has been added to the outbreak total, joining Illinois and Wisconsin. One more person has been hospitalized because they are so sick. The patient case count by state is: Illinois (6), Michigan (1), and Wisconsin (4). That includes one more patient each from Illinois and Wisconsin from the previous CDC update on July 16, 2021, and the new patient in Michigan. The Salmonella Weltevreden shrimp outbreak has ended with six people sick in two states, according to an update by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This outbreak was linked to a recalled product: shrimp imported from India by Avanti Frozen Foods. The patient case count is: Arizona (2) and Nevada (4). This case count has not increased since the initial investigation report was released almost a month ago. The patient age range is from 30 to 80 years of age. Of five people who gave information about their condition to the CDC, two were hospitalized, for a hospitalization rate of 40%, which is high for a Salmonella outbreak. The BrightFarms Sunny Crunch Salad Salmonella outbreak has sickened at least eight people in two states, according to an investigation notice posted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). At least five people bought or ate this product before they got sick. The company has issued a recall for eight of their branded packaged salad products. The patient case count by state as of July 14, 2021 is: Wisconsin (3), and Illinois (5). Illness onset dates range from June 10, 2021 to June 15, 2021. The patient age range is from 31 to 61 years. CDC Weighs in on Jules Cashew Brie Salmonella Outbreak

The CDC is weighing in on the Jules Cashew Brie Salmonella outbreak that has been declared over. As of July 7, 2021, 20 people in four states have been sickened in this outbreak. Five people have been hospitalized. No deaths were reported. The 20 people sickened is an almost threefold increase over the number reported in the last update in May. Then, seven people were part of this outbreak. In addition, a new state was added to the outbreak: Maryland. The patient case count by state is: California (15), Florida (2), Maryland (1), and Tennessee (2). The patient age range is from 1 to 72 years. Delaware Listeria Patient Linked to Multi-State Chicken Outbreak

A Delaware Listeria patient who is linked to the multi-state precooked chicken outbreak was allegedly sickened by Tyson foods ready-to-eat chicken products, according to an update by the Delaware Division of Public Health. That notice states that there is "one case of Listeria associated with a multistate outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections linked to recalled Tyson Foods ready-to-eat chicken products." The state will not release any more information about this specific case at this time to protect privacy. The other two patients in this outbreak live in Texas. One patient from Texas has sadly died. Precooked Chicken Listeria Outbreak Sickens 3 in Delaware and Texas

A precooked chicken Listeria outbreak has sickened three people in Delaware and Texas. All three patients have been hospitalized, and one person who lived in Texas has sadly died. Public health officials are investigating to discover which precooked chicken products are making people sick. The investigation notice states that this outbreak may be larger than officials think, and may not be limited to Delaware and Texas. All of the patients in this outbreak were served precooked chicken at a long term care facility or a hospital.
