Salmonella Citterio Salame Sticks Outbreak Grows to 30

The Salmonella Citterio Salame Sticks outbreak has grown to include 30 patients in 10 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which is an increase of 10 patients since the last update on October 28, 2021. Six people are hospitalized because they are so ill. That is an increase of two more states in the case count. A recall was issued after the government discovered that the product was still being sold at one retail location, which was not named. The case count by state is: California (12), Illinois (4), Kansas (2), Maryland (1), Michigan (3), Minnesota (3), New Jersey (2), New Y0rk (1), Pennsylvania (1), and Virginia (2). E. coli Sickens Five Children Who Attended the Georgia National Fair

E. coli has sickened five children who attended the Georgia National Fair, according to news reports. Three of the five children are hospitalized, according to Michael Hokanson of the Georgia Department of Public Health, who spoke to WMAZ. Hokanson added that the case count may increase as more lab results come in. And according to that article, Ginny Crouse is the mother of two of the children who are ill: Zoe, age one, and Campbell, three. And Stacey Wooddell's daughter Skyler also tested positive. Some of the children may have hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a type of kidney failure, although that complication has not been officially disclosed. The children are recovering. There are now 808 sick in the onion Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak, with 157 hospitalized, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The patients live in 37 states and Puerto Rico. This is an increase of 156 new patients and 28 new hospitalizations since the last update one week ago. Georgia National Fair E. coli Outbreak Sickens at Least Four

An E. coli outbreak believed to be linked to the Georgia National Fair has sickened at least four children, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health and the North Central Health District. All of the children attended the Georgia National Fair that took place in Perry, Georgia, on October 7 to October 17, 2021. Public health officials are working with the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter to investigate these cases. All four confirmed cases are in children who live in Georgia. The Citterio Salame Sticks Salmonella outbreak has now sickened at least 20 people in eight states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Last week, the Minnesota Department of Health announced that three people living in that state were sickened. The outbreak has spread beyond that state. The Salame Sticks were sold at Trader Joe's grocery stores and may have been sold at other grocery stores around the country. Nine people were interviewed about the foods they ate before they got sick, and eight said they ate or maybe ate this product. The Famous Anthony's Hepatitis A Virginia outbreak has now sickened 35 people and hospitalized more than 20 of those patients, according to news reports. The Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts announced on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 that the cases have more than doubled over the last two weeks. The illnesses are linked to three Famous Anthony's restaurant locations in Roanoke. The outbreak was first reported to the public on September 24, 2021. One employee had worked at the three locations (on Grandin Road, Williamson Road, and Crystal Spring Avenue) while infectious.
