The CDC says that illness reports have started to decrease. There are eight active investigations on the Table; only two of them have been solved. The Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak linked to recalled Milo's Poultry Farms eggs remains the same, with at least 65 people sick in nine states. Twenty four people have been hospitalized. Boar’s Head Closes After Listeria Outbreak, Poor Inspections
The USDA states that the Boar's Head facility in Jarratt, Virginia has closed after a deadly Listeria monocytogenes outbreak and years of poor inspection reports. A letter sent to the company by the USDA describes the outbreak and inspection reports as justification for the closure. The USDA states, "your establishment failed to maintain sanitary conditions, as required by 9 CFR 416 et seq., and 500.3(a)(1), based on the determination that your establishment produced and shipped adulterated product." The Federal Meat Inspection Act gives FSIS the authority to set sanitation requirements and refuse to let meat products to be marked, labeled, stamped, or tagged as inspected and passed. There are updates issued on FDA's CORE Outbreak Investigation Table, with many of the outbreak case counts increasing. There are eight investigations on the table; six of them are unsolved. The Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak that is linked to recalled Milo's Poultry Farm eggs has not changed. There are 65 people in nine states that are ill. And 24 of them have been hospitalized. Which stores carried Boar's Head deli meat that is linked to a deadly Listeria monocytogenes outbreak? According to the recall notice that was issued on July 26, 2024 and expanded on July 30, 2024, the meats were sold "nationwide."
